The Ruined Covenant of Rheinstein
Rheinstein was a covenant founded in 1123 AD by three young wizards. Schwall of Bjornaer, Fulmonious of Tytalus and Adala of Bonisagus. It was located in the Rhine Gorge between the cities of Bingen and Mainz. The covenant itself was in what came to be known locally as Burg Maus (Mouse Castle) for it’s small size and the narrow wooden stair that led to it from a small set of docks on the river.
In 1200 AD, it was reported that the castle had been sacked and all the inhabitants killed by an army of angry mundanes that had been stirred up by the Bishop of Trier. The tribunal at that time ruled that the Rhine Valley would be quarantined to magical activity for a period of 20 years in order to allow local tensions to diminish. To this day, the site has not been explored or looted by any magi from the Order of Hermes.
